Tommaso Moretti trio/quartet.

Greg Ward: Alto Sax. Edinho Gerber: Guitar. Ben Dillinger: Upright bass. Tommaso Moretti: Drums, vocals, samples, compositions.

This music project emphasizes the bandleader love for intimate melodies/harmonies and exposes his passion for Afro Latin and Brazilian rhythms. Inside Out is a studio album and a live performance that connects the dots between the intimate dimension of an inspiration and the aesthetic need to translate it into defined musical languages. It’s a quest to find the inner layer of humanity that allows a connection between the meaning of three words: Sentimento, Saudade, Soul.”

Outside In trio/quartet/quintet

Ben Lamar Gay: Cornet.  Mai Sugimoto: Alto Sax, flute.  Norman Long: Modular Synth.  John Sutton: Upright bass. Tommaso Moretti: Drums, vocals, samples.

"Outside In" is a music project that aims to be a legitimate tribute to the iconic improvisational scene of Chicago. The artistic goal is to blur the line between improvisation and composition exploring new ways of blending the two sides of the creating process both in the context of music performance and during the producing process. Experienced local music improvisers will be involved in the musical effort of shaping extemporary compositions out of individual and collective improvisations.

"Outside In" is meant to be the follow up of the "Inside Out" project and album which started from diametrically opposite artistic premises: playing pre-arranged compositions as a tool and starting point to inspire individual and collective improvisation. With "Outside In" the starting point would be the individual and collective improvisation with the abstract purpose of channelling and shaping the ensemble voices into a cohesive and organic musical piece all in real time.

From the "Inside Out "to the "Outside In" We are the same living bio-organism and we can start acting as one. Music and the Arts

are the empirical demonstration that we are all connected on a deeper level that we might be aware of.

Amarcord Trio

Juan Ortiz/Kevin Lipa: Guitar.  Jorge Orozco: Upright Bass. Tommaso Moretti: Drums, vocals.

Amarcord trio is a jazz trio based in Chicago focused on rearranging and performing some of the best Italian music of all time.

Bands and Projects as co-leader:

Elijah Mclaughlin & Tommaso Moretti Duo

Elijah Mclaughlin: Guitar, loops.

 Tommaso Moretti: Drums, loops.

Chicago-based musicians and bandleaders Elijah McLaughlin and Tommaso Moretti come together in an exciting new project that explores the vast landscape of improvised music. Drawing from a rich mix of personal influences—ranging from minimalism and jazz to ambient, psychedelia, and experimental rock—the duo crafts a sound that blends melodic lyricism, hypnotic grooves, and ever-evolving harmonic textures. Their dynamic, forward-driven music is grounded in the present moment, yet propels the listener on a captivating sonic journey.

Bottle Tree (active 2015-2017)

Ben Lamar Gay: Cornet, electronics, beats, vocals. Aaron M. Frison (Coultrain): Vocals, lyrics. Tommaso Moretti: Drums, beats arrangement.

Bottle Tree is a collaboration conjured from the Southside Chicago storefront chapel of singer/scholar A.M. Frison and composer/cornetist Ben Lamar Gay. With Italian expat Tommaso Moretti on traps, the sound-rendered folklore of Bottle Tree embodies a heart beating to West African mutated funk with the spirit of avant-garde jazz and a Motown-molded melodic mind — like a futuristic fantasy of Stevie Wonder backed by Don Cherry and Novos Baianos in the early 1970s.

Tasty Gasoline (active 2012-2015)

Richard Malstrom: Vocals, guitar, lyrics.  Miles Kean: Bass Tommaso Moretti: Drums, vocals.

Tasty Gasoline is a Math Rock trio defined by abrasive riffs, rhythmical complexity and melodical lyricism.

Tribraco (active 2005-2012)

Lorenzo Tarducci: Guitar, loop pedal. Dario Cesarini: Guitar, loop pedal, effects. Valerio Lucenti: Bass, . Tommaso Moretti: Drums.

The Tribraco was born in Rome in 2005 and active until 2012. In 2007 the trio stretched into a quartet, formed by Lorenzo Tarducci (guitar, loop machine), Valerio Lucenti (bass), Tommaso Moretti (drums), Dario Cesarini (guitar, loop machine, effects).
The creativity of the four tight-rope walkers musicians is expressed in the balance between the structured composition and free improvisation, syncopated and pressing rhythms, joint themes, creating goliardic and visionary atmospheres which leave ample room to the viewer’s imagination, guided by effective and amusing introductions to the tracks.
A long, original and eclectic way, brought them to perform in Italy ( Rome, Bologna, Perugia, Recanati, Milan, Cagliari) playing in clubs, in the streets and important festivals like “Villa Celimontana Jazz Festival” 2008, RM (opening for Francesco Zeppetella) and “Ai confini tra Sardegna e Jazz 2009” in S. Anna Arresi (CI) (opening for Roscoe Mitchell).
Also during the S. Anna Arresi festival they performed with Ernest Dawkins’s ensamble of the Chicago’s AACM.
From 2007 the Tribraco works with actors, dancers and video makers, to achieve live performance, audiovisual concept and music for films and theatres: in 2008 Tribraco participates at “Installer.1” festival in Rome and realizes the soundtrack for the documentary “La Valle della Luna”.
In 2008 and 2009 they perform music for some of Ornella D’Agostino’s shows in the “Time in Jazz” Festival at Berchidda, SS.
In spring 2009 they repeatedly perform in London.

Cracking The Whip is his debut album, produced by Megasound and distributed by Megasound / Zebralution. After the great success of the presentation at Rome’s Rialto Sant’Ambrogio, Cracking The Whip receives an excellent recall by the audience and the specialized press
(Chitarre, Rockerilla, Percussioni, Musik Box, Metromorfosi, Babylonbus, Movimenti Prog, Music Club), while the main indie radio stations in the capital (Radio Città Futura, Radio Rock, Radio Città Aperta, Radio Tor Vergata) broadcast the album tracks.
On april 2010 Tribraco is declare third at ItaliaWave (Lazio) final, while from August to October 2010, together with Neo, they tour 50 days and 9000 miles around the US, giving a sneak peak of "Glue", the second album.

On February 2011 they introduce "Glue" in Italy while planning a Midwest/East Coast tour in the US for Sept-Oct 2011.

The Orange Man Theory (active 2003-2013)

Gianni Serusi :vocals. Gabriele "Gabbo" Giaccari: Guitar. Marco "Cinghio" Mastrobuono: Bass. Tommaso Moretti: Drums.

Formed in 2003, in Rome, Italy, the extreme rock quartet The Orange Man Theory delivers a raging sound influenced by a strong passion for groovy dissonances, angular and odd rhythms, a perverse addiction to death metal and a real devotion for 70's super rock. Once recorded their debut cd “Riding A Cannibal Horse From Here To…” with Steve Austin of Today Is The Day, they signed to the US Supernova Records. Their album soon caught the attention of the worldwide press that acclaimed the album on the most important magazines, and The Orange Man Theory toured extensively throughout Europe, USA and South America. They performed at SXSW 2008 in Austin, TX, and played with bands like Sick Of It All, Today Is The Day, Jucifer, Dark Funeral, Ephel Duath, Cripple Bastards, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum. Their second ground-breaking full-length “Satan Told Me I’m Right”, produced by Steve Austin again, will be released by Subsound Records. After a few line up changes in 2012 they released for SubSound records they're last full leght album : Giants, Demons and Flock of Sheep.

Thrangh (active 2005-2011)

Gabriele Mengoli: Alto sax. Fabrizio Colelli: Guitar. Alessandro Bonanni: Bass. Tommaso Moretti: Drums.

Thrangh is a cultural delirium crushing many different styles and puking them in a metamorphic amalgam of sounds: its a cut-up of music circumstances risen out of improvvisative sessions, reorganized in a fluctuating transcription of a dreamy experience. Thrangh's live acts basically consist in a continuous performance, without a break, that alternates between collective rhythm-locked parts and free noisy improvisation. It follows a muddled mystification of disrupted elements that exalts the aggressive movement, the febrile insomnia, the race step, the mortal jump, the smack and the fist..... ..
